Our starting point is the lesson you want to teach

Our years of work in higher education and online education have shaped how we build PortACourse. Instructors need to explain a concept, give students a way to practise and see whether they have understood it. Preparing that experience takes more than putting course notes on a screen.

We approach the platform as instructors building for other instructors. You bring your subject knowledge, teaching goals and course material. We develop the tools that help you turn those inputs into lessons you can review, adapt and use in your learning management system.

Experience in online teaching

Our background includes teaching in higher education and developing online instructional material. We know that a useful lesson needs a clear learning goal, readable explanations, purposeful activities and feedback that helps students understand a mistake.

We apply that experience to the authoring workflow and the student experience. Instructors can start with material they already teach and shape the activities around their course.

Experience developing AI-enabled content

We work with AI to draft instructional content, structure learning activities and support revision. Our focus is on how instructors can guide that process through their source material, instructions and assessment choices.

We keep review within the workflow. Instructors check the explanations, sources and questions, request changes and decide what to share with students.

A platform designed for classroom use

We develop PortACourse around the work that follows drafting: previewing the student experience, collaborating with colleagues and exporting a module for an existing course.

The module template supports explanations, images, interactive activities and assessments. Instructors can choose scoring and completion settings, then test the package in their institution's learning management system before assigning it.
